Programs and applications crash. Everything crashes at one point or another, even DaVinci Resolve. And when applications crash, they do so at the worst possible moment. It’s always the way. Don’t ask me why. It just is.
To save yourself from the horror of losing work after a crash, it’s best to create backups of said work. Resolve has a wonderful feature that creates those backups and the process is automatic. The only thing we need to do is make the proper setting. That’s what this tutorial is about: how to change the setting so Resolve automatically creates backups of our projects.
Creating Automatic Project Backups
To set your installation of Resolve to automatically create backups, first head to the upper left corner of Resolve and choose the DaVinci Resolve > Preferences menu item.
Next, when the Preferences dialog box opens, select the Project Save and Load option on the left and then make sure to click the User option up top. Then, be sure the Project Backups option is checked. This option doesn’t come checked by default, so you’ll need to do it if you would like to set backups.
Below the Project Backups option are a few more options. You can set the duration between backups as well as where you’d like to store the backups on your system. When finished, click the Save button and you’ll be all set.
If you have any questions about how to set your installation of Resolve so it automatically creates project backups, please ask in the comment section below. Thanks!
