With all the rain the summer season of 2021 brought us, a wide variety of mushrooms sprang to life in the woods behind our home. On top of that, wonderfully beautiful green moss has begun to carpet our trail system. In this post, I share many photos of both. Beyond these things, I include my usual bit of humor and introspection. Give it a read. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it. Continue reading…
Basics of Economics
Economics is an insanely interesting topic. It concerns every single life on this planet and everyone contributes to it in some unique way. While everyday economics is somewhat simple to understand, the study of deeper economic theory is obviously much more complex. In this post, I touch upon the basics of economics. I’ve written each section in easy to understand language because I’m no fan of making something that can be clear, difficult to understand. I hope you enjoy the post. Click through to learn a bit about what makes the world go round. Continue reading…

Damariscotta, Maine
Damariscotta, Maine is a great little riverfront town that’s got a nice handful of features to enjoy. Since the town sits so close to the river, you can visit that; there are plenty of photo ops in the area. There’s also a wonderful pub (along with other restaurants) for lunch and a few stores for shopping, including Reny’s. There’s even Lincoln Theater, if you’d like to take in a movie or show. Overall, Damariscotta is quite the picturesque place to be. It’s Maine in a nutshell. In this post, I share a few pictures from our visit. Enjoy! Continue reading…
Boothbay Harbor, Maine
Boothbay Harbor is a worthy town to visit in Maine. It’s on the coast and it offers tons of things to do and see. Boothbay Harbor is definitely a tourist town, so be ready for people and activities during the summer months. It’s a destination that shouldn’t be overlooked during a day trip or a vacation to the state. What’s in store for you if you visit? Think schooner rides and deep sea fishing. Art galleries and shopping. Wandering around the lovely Main Street and stopping off for ice cream. The coast of Maine in the summer or fall isn’t to be missed. In this post, I share a bit of commentary as well as quite a few photos of this location. Click through to enjoy. Continue reading…
Belgrade Lakes, Maine
Belgrade Lakes is a region that includes two towns; Rome and Belgrade, Maine. It also consists of seven lakes. The lakes are: East Pond, North Pond, Great Pond, Long Pond, Messalonskee Lake, McGrath Pond, and Salmon Pond. It’s a wonderful area that we visit often. It’s host to some of the best hiking in Maine and some of the most spectacular views of the lovely lakes. Nestled between the two towns as well as the two lakes of Great Pond and Long Pond is the village of Belgrade Lakes (yes, it’s a village too). And nestled within that village is a tiny, yet very special place, called Peninsula Park. In this post, I’ll share some photos of the park as well as the surrounding lakes and area. I hope you enjoy. Mount Phillip Trail, Rome, Maine
One of the prettiest areas Laura and I have visited in Maine is the Belgrade Lakes region. There are many lakes, parks, and plenty of natural beauty to go around. And there’s lots of wonderful hiking as well. Over the past few years, we’ve visited both Great and Long Ponds. We’ve also driven around with the goal of general exploration in mind. In the town of Rome, which is just north of Belgrade, we’ve hiked French’s Hill and Mount Phillip, which were our favorites. In this post, I discuss hiking Mount Phillip; a wonderful hike indeed. I also show off far too many photos. Enjoy! Continue reading…
Memories of Brewster
I grew up in the town called Brewster, New York. I lived there for 22 years and have many memories of the area; some fond and some I’d rather forget. Nevertheless, the memories are there and my life today has been shaped by them. In this post, I look back (mostly in a nostalgic sense) on a few short slices of what I experienced on a few select occasions. I had a great childhood and I often think of those days gone by. What’s inside is merely one such example of a time I thought out loud. Continue reading…
Beautiful Quotes
If you’re interested in fine writing, I think you’ll enjoy this post. To me, quotes and literature and writing that make you take a step back and think are a big part of what makes life so worth living. I’m not sure where I’d be without them. In this post, I share some thoughts on what makes a beautiful quote and then I share a healthy handful of my own personal preferences. Please read what’s inside and then share some of your own favorites in the comment section at the bottom of the page. Continue reading…
Houston Brook Falls, Bingham, Maine
Houston Brook Falls is located in Bingham, Maine and is a must visit New England waterfall. Depending on the time of year you visit (which generally dictates the amount of water going over the falls), you may experience either a trickle or a roaring beast. When we hiked the trail to these falls, we were met with heavy mist about 100 yards away. Needless to say, the river was alive that day! Check in to view some photos and video I took of this natural wonder. Continue reading…
